Marquis Environmental Sustainability Advantage:
Over the last three years Marquis has been working with Newcastle City Council and the NSW Department of Environment and Climate Change to improve the resource efficiency of the business. Most recently marquis has been one of five Hunter companies involved in a state-wide pilot called Sustainability Advantage. Sustainability Advantage helps businesses reduce environmental risks and realise savings through the more efficient use of resources and reduced waste. During this pilot, Marquis has focused on
reaffirming management commitment and developing an environmental management plan while also working with employees to identify potential risks and capture savings from improved systems and use of resources.

Marquis have recorded significant improvements in resource efficiency while reducing energy consumption and waste production.
• 4.9% reduction in LPG consumption;
• 8.1% reduction in electricity consumption and a reduction of 15.7 tonnes in carbon emissions;
• 35% reduction in paper purchasing; and
• Despite increased production levels over the past 12 months, waste to landfill capacity has remained steady.
